Cuba reiterated the willingness to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation with Canada, on the 78th anniversary of bilateral relations, stated a note from the Cuban Foreign Ministry on its official Twitter account.
Both nations maintain ties characterized by mutual respect and strong links in the economic field, with significant investments of the North American country in energy, mining sectors and tourism in which Canada stands as the main issuing market.
Last February, the V Session of Inter-Chancelleries Political Consultations was held in this city, chaired by the Cuban First Deputy Foreign Minister, Gerardo Peñalver, and the Canadian First Deputy Minister of Global Affairs, David Morrison.
At that meeting, representatives of both delegations highlighted the good state of bilateral relations, insisted on the importance of maintaining political exchanges and ratified the will to continue working on the development of trade and cooperation ties.
Cuba recognizes Canada’s traditional support in the UN General Assembly to the resolutions presented by Cuba every year against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
