Living conditions worsen in El Salvador

The lack of access to healthcare services, social security and drinking water has worsened in the last year, a study by La Prensa Grafica Datos (LPG Datos) showed recently.

In that regard, 6 percent of households reported that they did not have access to healthcare services, and that percentage increased to 8.9 percent in 2022, surpassing even 6.9 percent in 2020, when due to Covid-19, healthcare authorities suspended most services to focus on the pandemic, the study revealed.

The lack of social security, associated with the informality of employment, affected more than 60 percent of families since 2018, the report noted.

In 2022, lack of access to drinking water did not improve, as it affected 21.2 percent of households, 0.2 points higher than in 2021, and it was also the highest figure since 2018, worsening living conditions in many households.
