Dominican government to slaughter 3,300 pigs due to swine fever

The Dominican government decided to slaughter 3,300 pigs as part of actions to control the African swine fever that is affecting the country, it was reported.

According to Diario Libre newspaper, since last Tuesday, the Ministry of Agriculture, together with other government agencies, have been carrying out sanitization and elimination of affected pigs in the provinces of Sanchez Ramirez and La Vega.

In addition, Agriculture Minister Limber Cruz said that something similar will be done in Dajabon, where the first cases of the disease were detected in May.

Cruz assured that to date, there are 11 provinces where the virus has been reported.
