The Canadian Ambassador to Cuba, Geoff Gartshore, was present at the official inauguration ceremony of the Canadian Pavilion at the Havana International Fair, FIHAV 2022, where nine companies participated as exhibitors and another 10 did it as professional visitors.

Along with the Minister of Tourism of Cuba, Juan Carlos García, recalled that Canada is currently the main source country of tourists to the Cuban market.

In his speech, the ambassador thanked the presence of Canadian businessmen and Cuban authorities, whom they urged to take advantage of Canada’s strengths in areas of importance to Cuba such as renewable energy, agricultural and food production, mining, and hotel management, among others.

Similarly, the ambassador stressed that in 2021 bilateral trade between the two countries exceeded 980 million dollars.

Canada is also the second source of foreign direct investment in Cuba, in sectors such as mining, electricity generation, oil extraction, banking, and tourism.
